Unit 1 Age, Nature and Characteristics of Older and Traditional Buildings Learn how traditional buildings were constructed and maintained, referencing BS 7913. Understand materials, vapour permeability, and the relationship between fabric and performance. Unit 2 Assessing Options for Energy Efficiency Measures Explore insulation, ventilation, and thermal performance. Learn how to evaluate risks and determine appropriate interventions that minimise unintended consequences. Unit 3 Making Recommendations and Giving Advice Develop the ability to select suitable measures and communicate best-practice advice to clients, balancing energy efficiency goals with heritage conservation. The course is taught through a blend of guided study, tutor-led sessions, and practical case studies.
