Assessment is through a portfolio of evidence compiled during and after study, which may include workbook tasks, professional discussions, and short question-and-answer activities. There are no written exams.

The qualification is awarded by ABBE (Awarding Body for the Built Environment) and regulated by Ofqual. Successful learners receive a nationally recognised certificate confirming their achievement of a Level 3 Award in Introduction to Domestic Retrofit.
